Officer Breylis Garcia demonstrated exceptional determination and professionalism while leading a complex investigation into the September 26, 2025, aggravated battery that resulted in injuries to a Coral Gables police officer. The suspect fled after striking the officer with a black motorcycle, leaving investigators with only a general description as an initial lead.
As the first officer responding to the scene, Officer Garcia interviewed the injured officer, who provided details about the suspect and motorcycle. She immediately leveraged ALPR data, redlight camera footage, and intelligence center resources to locate video evidence matching the description. While still on scene, she identified the suspect vehicle and its occupant through multiple investigative databases. Through diligent follow-up with the registered owner and known associates, she uncovered links leading to the primary suspect.
Officer Garcia obtained a cell-site warrant that placed the suspect in the area at the time of the incident. On October 2, 2025, working closely with the State Attorney’s Office, Officer Garcia secured and executed a search warrant to properly seize and preserve the motorcycle and related evidence. She subsequently re-interviewed family members, conducted post-Miranda interviews. and filed the appropriate criminal charges against the perpetrator.
Her tireless efforts, investigative skill, and professionalism exemplify the highest standards of the Coral Gables Poli...
