Title

Congratulations to the Coral Gables Fire Department Extrication Team, on their 1^st place success at the “2021 NAVRA INVITATIONAL RESCUE CHALLENGE AND EXPO” during the week of November 20, 2021.

Body

The “2021 NAVRA INVITATIONAL RESCUE CHALLENGE AND EXPO” held in Miami, Florida, included several rescue teams from all over South Florida and surrounding areas who participated in a team-based scenario training exercise designed to promote good team dynamics, improve communications, and increase rescue scene proficiency.  Each team consisted of six members, the team leader, a medic, two technical rescue personnel and one person responsible for both medical and technical operations support.

All teams competed in two scenarios and additional training evolutions.

Awards were given to the top team in each evolution and the overall top combined score. The Coral Gables Fire Department Extrication Team won 1^st Place for the Best Medic; 1^st Place for the Best Incident Commander; 1^st Place in Technical work; 1st Place in Complex Scenario; 1^st place in Limited Scenario; and 1st Place in the Overall Top Combined Score.

We are happy to congratulate the following on an outstanding accomplishment: Lieutenant Christopher Ayala, Firefighter Nicholas Sierra, Driver Engineer Sean Maldonado, Firefighter David Hill, Firefighter Joel Obregon, Firefighter Alexandra Gonzalez, and Firefighter Nicholas Balsera.
