Title
Jorge L. Freeland, President, Hammock Lakes I & II Homeowners Association, Inc., requesting removal of certain condition on Resolution No. 2008-54 (as amended), passed and adopted by the City Commission on April 29, 2008.
Brief History
The citizens of Coral Gables residing in Hammock Lakes had petitioned Miami-Dade County, under Chapter XVIII of the Miami-Dade County Code, to create a Special Taxing District to provide Stationary Security Guard Service for Hammock Lakes.

On April 29, 2008, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. 2008-54, as amended, approving the request to create a Special Taxing District to provide Stationary Security Guard Service for Hammock Lakes.  Under Section 9, Item (1) of that same Resolution, the Hammock Lakes Homeowners' Association requested the roving guard program be continued.

By letter dated October 15, 2008,  Mr. Donald L. Tock, Jr., Chief, Special Taxing Districts Division, Miami-Dade County, informed Mr. Freeland that the County could not accept a conditioned City resolution to authorize the creation of a Special Taxing District within City boundaries, as follows:

"That a roving guard program be continued as part of the City's concurrence with said Special Taxing District."

The Hammock Lakes I & II Homeowners' Association, through its President, Jorge L. Freeland, is requesting the removal of this condition so that the remainder of the City's Resolution can be carried out.
