Title
A Resolution authorizing expenditures in the amount of $8,719 from State Forfeited Asset Fund (F.A.F.) monies, to acquire the "Police Officer Scheduling System (POSS) and Personnel Audio Response System (PARS)" software.
Body
Pursuant to the provisions of FSS 932.7055(5)(a), the proceeds and interest from assets forfeited as a result of criminal investigations shall be used for other law enforcement purposes, which include providing additional equipment or expertise.
The POSS and PARS software would provide additional expertise by enhancing the Department's ability to automate the staffing, scheduling and timekeeping functions carried out by staff, as well as the off-duty and extra duty assignments.
The acquisition of this software would be an added enhancement for the Police Department and not a normal operating expense.
Under Resolution 2009-90, the City of Coral Gables Commission authorized expenditures in the amount of $65,900 from State F.A.F. monies to acquire the POSS software and its supporting hardware. Since that time, hardware to support the system had the purchase, but the system itself was not acquired. There is an existing balance from the original funds; however, that amount does not meet the current costs of acquiring the POSS and PARS software.
The F.A.F. Committee met on October 15, 2014 and approved this expenditure.
