LIBRARY HISTORY: Kendell Turner reported that the City Cable TV staff produced a segment featuring the Coral Gables Library. Kendell asked for help organizing the material she has collected regarding Library history. Dan Keys was asked if he knew the status of the text for the Kay Pancoast brochure. Kendell asked Amy Kutell to handle follow up on the Pancoast Mural plaque.
PUBLICATIONS & PUBLICITY: Susan Elwell volunteered to cover this area of interest for the board.
INTERIOR DESIGN/CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT: Amy Kutell volunteered to handle covering issues with Interior Design and the Children's Department. Barbara Kirby noted that the renovations for the Children's Room are still in the works, but other priorities within the system are being handled now.
LIBRARY REPORT/ADA COMPLIANCE: Barbara Kirby distributed her report for December 12, 2007, to members and added that in 2008 the storytelling will be shared with Columbia. Barbara reported that the ADA Compliance for the building has been completed except for new railing at the entrances and will not be done at this time. Board members decided to remove ADA Compliance from the agenda.
LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE/BUTTERFLY GARDEN: Dan Keys reported that the ficus trees have been attacked by white fly and have been treated. Discussion was held regarding the parking situation on and around the library grounds. Several ideas were brought up and will be explored. Susan Elwell asked what was happening with the fountain situation. Kendell Turner felt that the Library Advisory Board should make the fountain restoration/repair an item to focus on in 2008. Susan Elwell made a motion to "Pursue as a board, finding a consultant to determine the costs involved in repairing the fountains."
