Communications Committee Meeting of April 15, 2010

The minutes from the April meeting were circulated for approval. Motion: Sam Joseph motioned to approve the April meeting minutes. Chuck Martinez seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Higgins Fallon informed Communications Committee members that she had previously emailed the link for the current Gables Xchange, the internal newsletter distributed to employees.
Higgins Fallon reported that her office is assisting in the public awareness for Earth Week. On May 6, the City will hold the Arbor Day celebration at the Merrick House.
Higgins Fallon also reported that she is working on two award submissions on behalf of the City. The City Livability Award and the Awards for Municipal Excellence. Recently, Coral Gables was named a Tree City USA.
Martinez inquired about the Google Fiber initiative. Martinez stressed what a huge deal this new technology is from a resident’s perspective especially for the improvement of public services.
Higgins Fallon showed the video produced by CGTV which was aired at the recent Employee of the Year breakfast, entitled “CSI: Coral Gables.” She also distributed the latest copy of e-News.
With no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
