Title
Resolution of the City of Coral Gables authorizing expenditures in the amount of $37,100.00, from State Forfeited Asset Fund monies to fund the provision of Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Training by the Coral Gables Police Department.
Body
Pursuant to the provisions of Florida State Statute 932.7055(5)(a) the proceeds and interest from assets forfeited as a result of criminal investigations shall be used for school resource officer, crime prevention, safe neighborhood, or drug abuse education programs.

Accordingly, one of the Police Department's most popular crime prevention programs is the provision of the nationally recognized Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Training to the women and children of our community. This training is provided to not only instruct women and children how to survive an attempted sexual assault, but also to prevent potential injury resulting from or survive, domestic violence related abuse or assaults.

The allocated funds would provide the funding needed for the certified instructors and the other equipment and costs associated with providing this training to interested members of the public.

The Forfeited Asset Fund Committee met on April 2, 2009 and approved this proposed expenditure.
