Resolution authorizing expenditures in the amount of $12,000.00 from the Coral Gables Police State Forfeited Assets (FAF) monies to provide for the purchase and installation of steel plating material to protect the interior walls of the Police Department Indoor Firearms Training Facility.

The Coral Gables Police Department indoor Firearms Training facility's interior walls are presently outfitted with sound suppressing acoustic padding. As the FDLE requirements for the firearms training conducted by law enforcement agencies for their sworn personnel have developed, the efficacy and overall necessity of this padding has been re-evaluated. As a result, the Police Department has determined that the need for sound suppression in this facility has become less critical than the hardening and protection of the structural walls behind this padding. It is the Police Department's proposal to have 70 feet worth of 1/8 inch steel plating installed along the interior walls of this facility and that this proposal would qualify as a permissible purchase as it is additional equipment that is not a normal operating expense.
