Title
Resolution authorizing the execution of a contract with the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs to accept a Culture Builds Florida matching grant in the amount of $25,000 to be used toward completion of the City of Coral Gables Art in Public Places Public Art Master Plan and initial public art project.
Body
In December 2007, City Commission approved an Ordinance of the City of Coral Gables zoning code creating a new division within Article 3, Division 20, entitled "Art in Public Places."

Section 20-105 specifies development by the Cultural Development Board of a Public Art Master Art Plan.

In order to secure necessary funding to complete the Public Art Master Plan, City monies allocated through the Department of Economic Sustainability were divided over two years, and additional funds were sought through the State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, Culture Builds Florida Grant using as a match the monies allocated by the Economic Sustainability Department for this purpose.

In September, 2009, the City of Coral Gables received a letter from the State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs specifying a Culture Builds Florida grant award in the amount of $25,000.

The Grant award funds the Public Art Master Plan process through completion, including the procurement of a Public Art Master Plan Consultant and initial public art project, which the Cultural Development Board has consistently favored.
