Item No. 1 - Absent Members: Motion to excuse the absent members was tabled until the next meeting.
Item No. 2 - Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the September 16, 2008 meeting were approved as presented upon motion by Ms. Anderson which carried unanimously.
Item No. 3 - Red-Light Cameras: An update was given as to the status of the City's Red-Light Camera project. (Alvarez)
Item No. 4 - Police Reserve Program: Discussion relative to the Police Reserve Officer Program, its qualifications, benefits, and requirements. (Alvarez)
Item No. 5 - Committee Newsletter: Discussion relative the possibility of the Public Safety Committee producing a newsletter for distribution to residents. (Alvarez)
Item No. 6 - Ride Along Program: Discussion relative to the Police Department's Ride-Along program and requiring Public Safety Committee members to participate. This discussion was tabled upon motion by Ms. Anderson. (Alvarez)
Item No. 7 - Coral Way/Segovia Street Traffic Detour: Discussion relative to the traffic detours at Coral Way and Segovia Street during construction of the intersection improvements, and the effect on crash rates in the effected area. (Anderson)
Item No. 8 - Traffic Diverters: Discussion relative to the design of Traffic Diverters and their effects on the surrounding areas. (Anderson)
Item No. 9 - City Commission Update: None.
Item No. 10 - City Projects Update: None.
Item No. 11 - Fire Department: Division Chief Lowman discussed the proposed change in the emergency transport policy which would include insurance billing for transportation services.
Item No. 12 - Police Department: Chief Naue discussed current crime trends being experienced in the City of Coral Gables.
Item No. 13 - Next Meeting: The next meeting of the Public Safety Committee was set for November 18, 2008, 6:00 pm, at a location to be determined.
