[Item No. 1 - Absent Members: A motion to excuse the two absent members was made by Mr. Saks, and carried unanimously.

Item No. 2 - Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the March 11, 2008 meeting were approved as presented upon motion by Ms. Anderson which carried unanimously.

Item No. 3 - University of Miami: A review of University of Miami crime statistics was given by Assistant Chief Naue. Training exercises were also discussed in light of recent events at FAU.

Item No. 4 - State Budget Cuts: Discussion relative to State Budget Cuts and the effects on Public Safety agencies.

Item No. 5 - Marine Patrol: Discussion relative to the operations of the Coral Gables Marine Patrol Unit ensued.

Item No. 6 - Memorial Day Holiday: Discussion relative safety preparations for the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday.

Item No. 7 - Hurricane Season: Discussion relative to preparations and training of personnel for the Hurricane Season ensued. Handling of personnel issues during an emergency situation was also discussed.

Item No. 8 - Wireless Communications: Discussion relative to wireless communications issues and redundant systems for public safety agencies.

Item No. 9 - Homeland Security Grants: Discussion tabled upon motion by Mr. Stieglitz, and carried unanimously.

Item No. 10 - Use of Force: Discussion relative to publicity related to excessive use of force, and officer training.

Item No. 11 - Chemical/Biological Threat: Discussion relative to potential pandemic, or significant chemical or biological threat and public safety agency preparations.

Item No. 12 - Housing Market: Discussion relative to the housing market’s effect on crime statistics.

Item No. 13 - Chairperson: Selection of new committee chair tabled until entire committee is present. Mr. Saks announced his resignation from the Public Safety Committee.
