On May 3, 2010, the School District of Palm Beach County, FL awarded a term contract to LEADEX Corporation to furnish and install playground equipment, surfacing, shade structures, outdoor fitness equipment and fitness trails.   Under Section 2-978, of the Procurement Code, entitled "Use of Other Governmental Unit Contracts (Piggyback)", contracts for services from another city or governmental entity, may be piggybacked if the contract resulted from a formal competitive bid process.  The School District of Palm Beach County contract was competitively solicited and is an active contract until May 2, 2015.   
 
The Parks and Recreation Division have requested the use of the School District of Palm Beach County Contract to make timely improvements to the playground at Pierce Park.  The Pierce Park Playground Improvement Project scope of work consists of the demolition and removal of existing playground, recap the existing poured in place playground safety surface, and the installation of new playground equipment.  The total cost for the project is $38,339.27.
 
This project was recommended by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee at their April 11, 2014 meeting. The project was presented to the Lola B. Walker Homeowners' Association on June 25, 2014, who "were pleased with the suggested renovations".  
 
The Parks and Recreation Division and the Public Works Department concur with the recommendation of the Chief Procurement Officer to award LEADEX Corporation, the Pierce Park Playground Improvement Project.
