School and Community Relations Committee Meeting of January 11, 2011

Coral Gables Senior High School Update: Earned an "A" from the State of Florida. The school is preparing for all of the State of Florida testing; FCAT, Advance Placement, and other required testing. The School is hosting an Academy Showcase, to help students select programs and academies that best suit them. In February, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is coming to assess the school; this is for renewal of a five-year accreditation.
Ponce de Leon Middle School Update: No update given, due to the excused absence of the representative.
Goals for the Committee: Discussion on goals and scope of the committee and a review of what was required of the committee, number of meetings, terms and function. Ways for the SCRC to get the information about the SCRC out and get more public input were discussed. The result of which should make the committee more active.
Next Meeting Dates: The SCRC will meet again on February 8, 2011, at Coral Gables High School.
