Congratulations to Firefighter Sean Gonzalez, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of September 2025

Sean has been selected as September’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his hard work and dedication to the department.
Firefighter Gonzalez has been with the department for over a year and recently completed his probationary period as a firefighter paramedic. Since coming out of probation he has continued to work at a high level and has taken the responsibility of helping guide newer probationary firefighters.
Sean regularly takes time to train and support the newer members on shift and helps ensure they understand and meet the standards of the department. His efforts have helped newer firefighters become more confident and consistent in their duties.
Sean also represents the department well off duty. He recently took part in the FOP Police Annual Cook Off at Tropical Park as part of a three-member team. They placed first in the competition, making it the second year in a row that Coral Gables Fire Rescue won. This was Sean’s first year participating.
Sean continues to show strong work habits on and off duty and sets a solid example for others to follow.
Due to his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the department, Firefighter Gonzalez is nominated Firefighter of the month for September 2025
