Brief History
This is the 62nd Annual Junior Orange Bowl Parade. The Parade will have, but not be limited to, floats, horses, marching bands, live music and other moving vehicles.
This year, the parade will have several changes. The parade date has been moved to Sunday, January 2, and the parade start time has been moved up to 4:00 pm.
In addition, the parade route has been reversed. The parade will now start on the corner of Alhambra Circle and Ponce de Leon Boulevard and head south to Miracle Mile, turning west on Miracle Mile and ending the parade at the grandstand on Biltmore Way in front of City Hall. This change was sought due to two factors: 1. The installation of the traffic circle on Biltmore Way makes the staging area more difficult and would result in more staging units deeper into residential areas. 2. The change in route would allow for more presentations and performances at the grandstand area without risking gaps or disruptions in the parade procession.
The reversal in parade route and change in time will result in an altered street closure schedule. Alhambra Circle and Alhambra Plaza will now need to be closed at 9:00 am. Alhambra Plaza will only be partially closed in order to allow access to and from the Hyatt. Arrangements will be made by the Junior Orange Bowl Committee to ensure that the affected businesses and residents are notified.
The remaining street closures will take place between 1:15 pm and 3:00 pm, with parade route closed at 2:15 pm and LeJeune Road closed at 3:00 pm.
