On December 26, 2025, at 1254 hours, the Coral Gables Police Department received a call in reference to a theft of a package from the front of 633 Alhambra Circle. The resident/victim was out of town but had observed a subject steal a package from his front porch through his Ring video camera. The victim further advised that the subject had a black jacket, red shorts, red shoes, and had a black cap. The subject had left westbound on an electric bicycle operated by a second person.
Officer G. Richardson was dispatched to the call and quickly responded to canvas the neighborhood west of the residence. She searched several blocks, and, at 1310 hours, she located both individuals going eastbound on the 1400 block of Obispo Avenue on the bicycle. The subject/offender was riding on the back of the bicycle. Ofc. Richardson followed them and at the 1300 block of Obispo Av she ordered them to stop. The bicycle operator stopped, and the offender was taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed that the incident was a burglary to the curtilage of the residence as the offender walked through a walled in front porch that had a gate and a covered front door. The contents of the package that the offender had stolen (a sweater) were recovered in the front basket of the bicycle. In addition, three more items were found in the basket that were most likely stolen. The items were new and in packaging. All four items were no longer in shipping material.
The offender was arrested and transported to CGPD along with the operator of the bicycle. The sweater and other items were recovered and impounded. CID units interviewed the offender and bicycle operator. A records check revealed that the offender had an extensive criminal past including armed offenses.
