Construction bids were informally solicited from four (4) general contractors. Gavarrete, Inc. was identified as the lowest responsive bidder. City staff, along with the project consultant, met with Gavarrete, Inc. to review their bid proposal and confirmed it to be in compliance with the project drawings and specifications.
The temporary offices for the Mayor and City Commissioners are essential to vacate City Hall in preparation for the planned historic restoration, scheduled to begin in January 2026.
Expediting the award process to Gavarrete, Inc. will enable the City to initiate the City Hall Restoration Project within the established timeline.
Pursuant to Section 2-691 of the Procurement Code, titled “Special Procurement/Bid Waiver,” the Commission is authorizing a bid waiver to engage Gavarrete, Inc. for the proposed improvements at a cost not to exceed $636,481 or in an amount not to exceed the available budget.
