Title

Recognition of Engine 1 and Rescue 1 for their response to an electrocution call.

Body

We would like to recognize the outstanding efforts of Engine 1 and Rescue 1 for their quick response, decisive actions, and teamwork during a life-threatening cardiac arrest involving a male patient who had been electrocuted at a construction site. After hearing the call dispatched, Engine 1 proactively responded from a closer location and arrived first, securing the scene, ensuring there were no active electrical hazards, and safely moving the patient to a suitable treatment area. The crew quickly applied AED pads, identified ventricular fibrillation, and delivered a shock that successfully restored a pulse. Working together, Engine 1 and Rescue 1 continued resuscitative care and transported the patient to Kendall Regional Medical Center for further treatment. Thanks to the crews’ quick thinking, clinical proficiency, and coordinated response, the patient was ultimately released from the hospital with no neurological deficits. This outcome exemplifies the highest standards of emergency medical care and reflects the dedication and professionalism of our personnel in serving our community.
