Congratulations to Lt. Jose Pereda, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of November, 2016.

Lt. Jose Pereda has been selected November’s Firefighter of the Month for his meritorious display of job performance, specifically for his incredible response to an emergency call involving a 31 year old female bicyclist who flipped her bike. Lt. Pereda could have easily taken this patient to a regular emergency department however he had an uneasy feeling regarding the patient and decided to transport her to Jackson Trauma. Within the hour of arrival, she was sent to surgery to repair a ruptured vein thus saving her leg and possibly major complications. Lt. Pereda’s aggressive response, quick actions, and expertise were instrumental in the positive outcome of this call. The Fire Department has recognized Lt. Pereda for his outstanding efforts and selected him as Firefighter of the Month for November 2016.
