Driver Engineer Hill has been selected February’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his hard work and dedication to the department.
There is an incredible talent pool within the ranks of our Fire Department. Driver Engineer Hill came to the rescue of an elderly couple, Ed and his wife while they were riding their bikes one day. A dog jumped over a fence and tried to attack Ed’s wife which resulted in her falling off her bike and sustaining injuries. Driver Engineer Hill quickly jumped into action protecting Ed and his wife from the dog and any further attack, while caring for Ed and his wife’s injuries. David proceeded to call 911 for Rescue assistance and even went above and beyond the call of duty to grab an umbrella to block the sun and shade the couple and remained on the scene until further medical care arrived.
ED is a retired Paramedic from BSO fire rescue and is a clinical instructor at the UM Gordon Center.
Due to his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the Fire Department, David Hill is nominated for Firefighter of the month for February 2024.
