Temporary offices for the Mayor, Vice-Mayor, and Commissioners will be constructed within the available retail space on the first floor of the Minorca Garage. These offices are being relocated from City Hall to facilitate planned structural repairs.
The 2,951-square-foot space will accommodate offices for Elected Officials and their supporting staff, along with a conference room and restrooms. Given that Thornton Construction originally built the Minorca Garage, their familiarity with the structure and existing facilities will help expedite the construction process.
Pursuant to Section 2-691 of the Procurement Code, titled “Special Procurement/Bid Waiver,” the Commission is authorizing a bid waiver to engage Thornton Construction for the proposed improvements at a cost not to exceed $500,000.
