The nomination was submitted by Gee Chow, Information Technology Department, which provided the following:

“Alex Gamundi has been working for the City of Coral Gables for over seven (7) years. He started as a Part-Time IT Technician and later became an IT Analyst.

Alex has shown himself to be a very motivated and versatile employee. He has always been willing to accept new assignments with enthusiasm. His customer and technical skills are greatly appreciated by our department users and city citizens. Alex is a proven team player, high producer, and reliable representative for our department.

Alex performs his daily IT Field Operation duties and Service Desk functions with pride. He also makes time in his busy day to test new hardware for compliance and compatibility with existing IT infrastructure. He has also created benchmarks for implementing new products and services in the enterprise. This past year, Alex has earned his certifications in IT Service Management to align his day-to-day tasks and his business process in the IT Department. Through the Community Service Department, Alex has also conducted and maintained outreach Computer Training classes for our seniors to explore the world of the Internet and office automation tools.

Recently, Alex has also helped implement an asset management system to allow the IT Department to inventory, track, and maintain computer hardware throughout the city. Alex was also instrumental in helping his colleagues in restructuring the management of the IT Department’s warehouse and improve asset control processes and procedures leading to a revenue-based asset liquidation system.
