BACKGROUND
On Thursday, February 23, 2023, at approximately 5:49 AM, Coral Gables Police units were dispatched to a hit and run investigation at the 300-BLK of Miracle Mile. The officers on scene immediately provided a Be On The Look Out (BOLO) with a description of the subject and the vehicle, last seen traveling westbound from the 300-BLK of Miracle Mile.

Contreras provided clear and concise radio transmissions, to include location, vehicle description and speed limit, allowing other officers to respond to his location. The driver of the vehicle then came to a complete stop at SW 32 Avenue and S. Dixie Highway. The driver of the vehicle then stepped out and was placed into police custody for further investigation. The driver of the vehicle was transported to Larkin Hospital for medical evaluation.
