Resolution authorizing the extension of a contract with Gym Kidz, Inc. pursuant to Section 2-834 (d) of the Procurement Code for a period not to exceed one hundred twenty (120) days from the expiration of the current contract for the provision of Gymnastic Professional Services.
Recommendation of the City Manager
It is recommended that the City Commission accept the recommendation of the Chief Procurement Officer pursuant to Section 2-834 (d) to extend the gymnastics professional services contract for an additional one hundred twenty (120) days from expiration of the current contract with Gym Kidz, Inc. to provide sufficient time for this contract to be rebid.
Brief History
On February 9, 2004, the City Commission entered into a contract with Gym Kidz, Inc. for the provision of gymnastic professional services for an initial two (2) year term with an option to renew for three (3) additional one (1) year terms with the last term expiring June 1, 2009.
The Procurement Division of Finance formally solicited proposals for gymnastic professional services on January 30th, 2009 under RFP 2009.01.22 with proposals by March 5, 2009.
Proposals submitted were evaluated by a Selection Committee, concerns were expressed by service providers regarding the Selection Committee, and as a result the Chief Procurement Officer cancelled the RFP and is preparing to re-solicit new proposals.
Under Section 2-834 (d) of the Procurement Code this gymnastics professional services contract should be extended one hundred twenty (120) days from the expiration date of the current contract to provide sufficient time for this contract to be rebid.
