Resolution of the City of Coral Gables authorizing the expenditure in the amount of $18,000.00, from previously encumbered Forfeited Asset Fund (FAF) monies to provide funding for the Coral Gables Police Athletic League.

Pursuant to FSS 932.7055 (5)(c)(3) a local law enforcement agency must expend or donate no less than 15% of State Forfeited Assets for school resource officer, crime prevention, drug abuse education, and prevention or safe neighborhood programs.
Forfeited Asset Funds were previously encumbered under Resolutions 2007-143 and 2008-102 totaling $47,948.94 to set aside funds for these purposes as required by statute. The distribution of $18,000.00 to the Coral Gables Police Athletic League will satisfy this statutory requirement.
The requested funds will support the Police Athletic League Program, which serves our community by virtue of its goal to prevent juvenile crime and drug abuse through the youth targeted community outreach activities that are offered during the summer break and throughout each year.
The Forfeited Asset Fund Committee met on April 2nd, 2009, and approved this request.
