A Resolution of the City Commission approving “Intervals”, a Coral Gables Art Series, as part of Miami Art Week and for an application to Art Basel for an official event, further approving funding up to $110,000 from the Art Fund toward the program and marketing materials (unanimously recommended by the Cultural Development Board approval/denial vote: 4 to 0); and authorizing an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Operating Budget to recognize the transfer of funds from the Art in Public Places Reserve and to appropriate such funds to put towards the cost of the project.

[The Cultural Development Board, through the Arts Advisory Panel, historically recommends city participation in Miami Art Week and, more specifically, an affiliation with Art Basel Miami Beach.
Since 2016, the city has received, from Art Basel, recognition and promotional support for its annual cultural program.
Following on the success from last year, on June 3, 2026, the Arts Advisory Panel discussed the city’s Miami Art Week 2026 program and unanimously supported continuing “Intervals”, an art series programmed in partnership with Coral Gables public spaces and with certain galleries presenting at Art Basel Miami Beach.
“Intervals” is designed to support a minimum of five artists in presenting site-responsive installations in open and publicly accessible spaces, including in partnering businesses and hotels. In compliance with Art Basel Miami Beach program requirements, galleries affiliated with Art Basel will be approached to present their artists.
Artists will be provided with $15,000 each to create a site-specific installation for exhibition of approximately eight weeks at a partner space. Partners will be paired with artists through a review process by the city. In addition, the public may be invited to vote for their favorite and confer a People’s Choice award of $10,000.
