Approval.
Brief History
The comprehensive Inflow and Infiltration (I & I) Program has the objective of reducing the amount of rain and groundwater that enters into the City's sanitary sewer system. Implementation of this program is expected to reduce the occurrence of sanitary sewer overflows; reduce nutrient loading into the water body; and reduce future capital, operational, and maintenance costs.
The City of Coral Gables has requested financial assistance in order to implement this I & I Program. Consequently, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection has agreed to provide financial assistance in the amount of $400,000, representing a portion of the total program's cost. The remaining cost is estimated at $1,315,158 and is included in the City's approved Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
In order to receive said financial assistance, the City must enter into an agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
