Congratulations to Jose Nunez, Community Recreation Department recipient of "Employee of the Month Award", for February, 2025.

Jose Nunez, first joined the city team as a contracted employee during the operational transition of the Coral Gables Golf & Country Club. Mr. Nunez was part of the team employed by the prior operators, and wishing to retain his job with the club, he was willing to stay on as a contracted employee. His addition to the club and team has been essential to the continuing building and maintenance improvements and enhancements of the Coral Gables Golf & Country Club. Eager to join the city team if an opportunity presented itself, Mr. Nunez started to take night classes to improve his English and made every effort to communicate in English with his team. Mr. Nunez then started his city full-time employment as a Maintenance Repair Worker and shortly after enrolled in the Certified Pool Operator’s class to get well versed in the operation and maintenance of pools. As a result of his perseverance, hard work and continuing efforts to further educate himself in the trade, he was promoted to the club’s Foreman, taking on the leadership responsibility of maintaining the highest quality services in cleanliness and ongoing maintenance of the facility. He takes immense pride in his work and takes the same approach in leading his small team of maintenance personnel and working hand in hand with the contracted service trades in the facility. He never says no to a task and will find a way to get the job done and done well. Among his team and between the General Services team they joke amongst each other, always switching out Jose’s name for another since he does the work of many. His commitment to his job, team and to the club members and community he serves would make him most deserving of the recognition of employee of the month as these are all qualities valued by our city.
