On Tuesday, July 17th, 2023, at 7:16 PM, officers were dispatched to 429 Fluvia Avenue in reference to stolen Amazon packages. The victim provided officers video footage of a white Hispanic male jumping over the fence and stealing two packages from the front porch of the residence. Officer Jaramillo immediately began canvassing the area looking for the perpetrator. At 7:47 PM Officer Jaramillo observed a white male matching the description, riding a skateboard southbound on the 3900 block of Ponce De Leon Blvd. Upon seeing the police vehicle, the male attempted to conceal himself by riding his skateboard around a building on the northwest side of Bird Road. Officer Jaramillo performed an evasive maneuver with his vehicle and confronted the male head-on in the building's parking lot, detaining him for further investigation.

Post Miranda Warnings, the offender confessed to the crime and told Officer Jaramillo he disposed of some property along Velarde Avenue. Officer Jaramillo requested back-up officers search the area and an Amazon package was found on the swale. This package was addressed to a residence at 3930 Riviera Drive. When officers contacted that homeowner, it was discovered the package had been stolen and once again the offender was caught on video surveillance camera. Officer Jaramillo continued to interrogate the offender and was able to obtain a third confession for theft of packages from 3725 Ponce De Leon Blvd.
Ultimately, hundreds of dollars in property were recovered and the offender was charged with three (3) counts of burglary from curtilage, three (3) counts of petit theft and an alias capias warrant, with no bond, for possession of a cont...
