Lieutenant Milito has enhanced the Firefighter Recruit Class EMS Training Program. Since being assigned to Staff in the summer of 2025, Lieutenant Milito has demonstrated exceptional initiative and professionalism in elevating the quality and effectiveness of EMS education for new recruits.
Lieutenant Milito completely restructured the EMS training curriculum by expanding the fire program to seven full days of intensive instruction. His improvements included the implementation of weekly medical protocol modules, an increased emphasis on realistic medical scenarios, and extensive hands-on practical training designed to better prepare recruits for real-world emergency responses. In addition, he incorporated rescue driving and hospital navigation training to ensure recruits develop confidence and competency in the operational aspects of EMS transport and patient care.
Perhaps most notably, Lieutenant Milito introduced a strong customer service approach to patient care, emphasizing professionalism, compassion, communication and overall patient experience. His efforts have significantly enhanced the preparedness, confidence, and professionalism of firefighter recruits entering the field.
Lieutenant Milito was hired on April 2, 2012, promoted to Lieutenant on May 29, 2019, and has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence throughout his career. His dedication to improving EMS training standards and mentoring the next generation of firefighters reflects great credit upon himself and the department.
Carlo’s professionalism, reliability and dedication to excellence make him truly deserving of this recognition. Due to his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the department Lieutenant Milito is nominated Firefighter of the month for July 2026.
