NEW BUSINESS:

a.                     ART IN PUBLIC PLACES WAIVER REQUEST - ALTA

Alta Developers appeared via Zoom and approached the Panel with a request to waive the required Art in Public Places Fee in lieu of commissioning and installing public artwork by the artist team of gt2P at 4101 Salzedo St. Guillermo Parada, artist with gt2P, joined the meeting via Zoom from Chile and spoke about the proposed artworks.

Mr. Guerrier made a motion recommending approval of the waiver request from Alta Developers to commission and install artwork by gt2P at 4101 Salzedo St. as presented. Ms. Miyar seconded the motion, which passed with 5 in favor and 2 opposed.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

There was no old business.

 

ART IN PUBLIC PLACES UPDATES:

The Panel was updated on the following public art projects:

                     The Village: AiPP waiver request has been postponed.

                     Centennial commemorative public art: Panel members provided feedback on additional artists presented for consideration and were advised that staff would like to keep the proposal invitation to a total of ten artists.

                     Police & Fire Headquarters: Installation schedule has been moved to the fall.

 

CITY COMMISSION ITEMS:

Panel members were advised of the Commission’s approval to celebrate the Zilia Sanchez sculpture for this year’s Miami Art Week and Art Basel event application.

 

Panel members were advised that a resolution is moving forward to the City Commission to approve the proposal process for the Centennial Commemorative public art project.

 

DISCUSSION ITEMS:

There were no further discussion items.

 

ITEMS FROM THE SECRETARY:

Panel members were provided with their i.d. card, parking pass, and list of city benefits; were reminded of the mandatory Ethics Training taking place on September 29; and were advised that future meetings will not be cancelled if there is no quorum.
