Congratulations to Firefighter Joel Obregon recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of December 2022.

Firefighter Obregon has been selected December’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his hard work and dedication to the department.
There is an incredible talent pool within the ranks of our Fire Department. This year we ordered new helmets for the extrication team and needed to place new stickers on the helmets. FF Obregon took the initiative and tasked himself with creating the templates and sizing the pictures. He designed them and ordered all the materials. These same stickers cost us about $90 per helmet last year. FF Obregon did all this for under $50 and this is just one of the many things that firefighter Obregon has done to better his department and himself. He has been seen on several occasions during TRT training pulling equipment out and spending all day working on what he learned and teaching it to the other firefighters at the station. Anything that is asked of him FF Obregon does it in a timely manner and efficiently.
Due to his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the Fire Department, Firefighter Obregon is nominated for Firefighter of the month for December 2022.
