Title

A Resolution of the City Commission accepting a recommendation to waive the competitive process of the Procurement Code and purchase an additional 6 Lifepak15 systems for $285,318.12 as a “Sole Source Procurement”, pursuant to Section 2-689 of the City’s Procurement Code.

Body

The Fire Department purchased the Lifepak15 devices starting in 2010. The LifePak15 devices are an automatic Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) device and cardiac monitor respectfully. Paramedics utilize this device on all cardiac and cardiac arrest incidents for lifesaving measures.

These cardiac monitors are designed for basic life support BBLS) and advanced life support(ALS) patient management protocols. The Fire Department would like to purchase and additional 6 additional Lifepak 35 monitors for $285,318.12. This will enable us to continue with the 3 year service agreement through Stryker as well as have the best in class cardiac monitors on all ALS units. Also, Stryker provides a 15% discount to the City for signing an service agreement.

 

Under Section 2-689 of the Procurement Code, entitled “Sole Source Procurement,” an award may be made without competitive bids when there is only one source available to fulfill the needs of the City.
