The Police Department is requesting the emergency purchase of the Meridian Barrier System which includes (22) Archer 1200 Mobile Barriers, (1) Meridian 8-Barrier Drop Deck Trailer - 1000, Beam Gate System, Archer Arrestor Cables and 3 Channel ADA Cable Protector.
These barriers are urgently needed to ensure proper security for ongoing large-scale events in the City.
The cost for the purchase of this Meridian Barrier System is an estimated amount of $249,775.17.
The number of City sponsored events and community events continues to grow in number and size. The Meridian Barrier System will protect pedestrians at our events from drunk drivers, drivers experiencing medical issues and out of control vehicles that are involved in traffic accidents.
The Meridian Barrier System can be deployed rapidly, allowing for pedestrian access, are mobile and provide a secure perimeter.
Under Section 2-689 A contract may be awarded without competitive bids or proposals when the Procurement Officer, after conducting a good faith review of all available sources, determines in
writing, pursuant to a written request from a department head, that the contract by its very nature is not suitable to competitive bids or proposals, as there is only one source for the required supply, service or construction item capable of fulfilling the needs of the city.
