Brief History
The Automotive Department has evaluated the service and maintenance requirements of the City's Trolley Fleet and has determined that required services can be provided with an annual minimum savings of approximately $100,000. The Automotive Department will retain four (4) employees (mechanics) to provide the service.
The City entered into an agreement with First Vehicle Services, Inc. on November 18, 2003, for trolley maintenance and management services. This was a four-year contract that expired in 2007. After a series of unsuccessful competitive solicitations, the City extended the current agreement with First Vehicles Services, Inc. on a month-to-month basis at the current rate until an acceptable contract is negotiated.
