“Mitranand has been with the City 2.5 years now and I am always reminded of what an asset he has been during that time. Mitranand came to us from the City of Davie, Florida. During the recruitment process we found it difficult to find the level of expertise we were looking for. We held a first set of interviews, and though we had some potential candidates, none really met our expectations. That is, until we held a second set of interviews and found Mitranand. His connection with the Finance Director and I was immediate. His scholastic and professional experience was a perfect match for Coral Gables.
It is rare to find someone who inherently understands budget policy and procedure. Budgeting is not a topic you learn in school. You have to have a proclivity for learning, understanding and applying it. In Mitranand’s case, he has that proclivity and has applied it, making the City the clear winner.
In his tenure so far, Mitranand has developed strong relationships with every department in the City. The liaisons of those departments know that they can come to him for the help they need at any time. Mitranand’ s major responsibilities include the preparation of the City's five year capital improvement program, maintaining the Strategic Management Plan, updating the City's performance metrics and responding to the day to day needs of the departments. Anyone can see the quality of his work by viewing the action plans, metrics, and graphs in the City's budget document.
Mitranand is also the Finance Department's leading expert in Excel spreadsheets and offers his expertise in support to anyone who is in need of help. Mitranand has taken the lead on setting up transparency functionality for the City's website. This functiona...
