Resolution accepting the recommendation of the Chief Procurement Officer for the purchase of a pre-owned 2007 Bucket Truck (Terex aerial devise installed on a International truck chassis) as a “Sole Source” from Ring Power Corporation of St. Augustine, Florida in the amount of $62,500.00 (Sixty-Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars), pursuant to Section 2-770 of the City’s Procurement Code and further authorizing the execution of the contract.
Body
This purchase is to replace the City’s 1987 bucket truck that has been taken out of service. The City’s bucket truck is primarily used for maintenance of City facilities, such as parking lots and garages, tree trimming and special events set-up.
The Automotive Department has found a pre-owned 2007 Bucket Truck (Terex aerial devise installed on an International truck chassis) at a price of $62,500.00. The bucket truck has only 8,900 miles on its odometer with about 700 hours of service as it was a re-possessed vehicle from a small utility firm. The cost of the proposed bucket truck compares favorably to other pre-owned bucket trucks found by the Automotive Department (2007 Terex aerial devise-International truck chassis with 26,000 miles - $85,000.00; 2007 Terex aerial devise-International truck chassis with 17,000 miles - $75,000.00; and a 2005 Terex aerial devise-and similar truck chassis with 62,000 miles-$63,900.00).
Under Section 2-770 of the Procurement Code, a contract may be awarded without competitive bids when the contract by its very nature is not suitable to competitive bids or proposals, as there is only one source for the required supply capable of fulfilling the needs of the city.
