Resolution authorizing the City Manager and the Chief of Police to execute a Mutual Aid Agreement with the South Miami Police Department for multi-jurisdictional and cross-jurisdictional delivery of police services.
Body
To allow for routine patrol along common boundary roads and due to the existing and continuing possibility of the occurrence of events requiring a law enforcement response and other natural and man-made conditions which are, or likely to be, beyond the control of the resources of the City of South Miami Police Department or the City of Coral Gables Police Department, the City of Coral Gables Police Department and the South Miami Police Department desire to enter into a Mutual Aid Agreement for voluntary cooperation and operational assistance of a routine law enforcement nature across jurisdictional lines as allowed under 23.1225 Florida State Statute and the rendering of assistance in a law enforcement emergency as defined in 252.34 Florida State Statute. This Mutual Aid Agreement is a renewal of an existing agreement which expired in June 30th, 2012.  This Mutual Aid Agreement will become effective upon approval and will continue in full force until December 31, 2017, unless terminated prior thereto by any or all parties.
