Firefighter Magrath joined the City as a Fire Recruit in February 1990 and completed her Firefighter training in March 1990. She gained her EMT status in March 1992, State Paramedic Certification in November 1994, was assigned to Rescue in December 1995, and achieved Advanced Training in May 1996.
Firefighter Magrath won a Gold and Silver Medal in the "Toughest Competitor Alive" competition at the 1993 World Police and Fire Olympics.
She is a three time recipient of the Firefighter of the Month:
May 2001, for the slogan now used by the department "Committed to our Community";
March 2003, for dedication and hard work as the Firefighter representative on the Coral Gables Retirement Board; and
February 2009, for her life saving actions on a cardiac arrest victim while off duty. Her quick response and professionalism were instrumental in the positive outcome and survival of the patient.
