Steve decided to join the City as a Firefighter in September 1981. He was permanently assigned to Emergency Medical Technician in April 1983 and later to Paramedic in June 1983. Steve is an excellent employee who strives to perform on the highest level and was proud to accept the challenging responsibilities of Fire Lieutenant on February 18, 1992. Throughout the years, Steve has expanded his talents and knowledge by immersing himself in various seminars and classes. Additionally, for the last eight years, Steve has proudly served as Vice-President of the Coral Gables Firefighters Union.
Remarkably, Steve exhibits the skills of promoting direction and teamwork among his crew, is cognizant of cost and budgeting, and anticipates problems and prevents them from happening. His communications skills are excellent and he is capable and concise in conveying ideas. Steve is innovative and insightful in his planning and chooses priorities well and executes beautifully in a timely fashion. In addition, he is effective in assigning tasks, encourages new ideas and approaches to the work ethic, and produces a high quality of work while creatively motivating his crew. Other talents that Steve shares and exhibits are that he is able to make logical decisions, highly organized and he is very effective under stressful emergency situations and is compassionate and empathetic with our citizens.
The City understands and acknowledges the high caliber of its employees and recognizes Steve for his dedication, talents, and loyalty for his many years of service and looks forward to a continued association.
