Title
Resolution approving the recommendation of the Cultural Development Board that the City Commission postpone action on the disposition of the Jean Ward sculptures until a revised recommendation is prepared by the Board in conjunction with the Public Service Department and re-presented to the City Commission.
Background
On January 27, 1995, seven large steel sculptures by Jean Ward were donated to the City of Coral Gables, three of which have since been placed on the ground of the Coral Gables Branch Library, as approved on March 21, 1003 by Resolution No. R-2003-58.

Sites for placing the remaining four sculptures have been considered over time, i.e.:  in December 2006 the Landscape Beautification Advisory Board discussed possible placement in non-active parks that were suggested as appropriate by the Public Service Dept.; in March 2007 potential sites were evaluated by the Public Service Director and a Cultural Development Board member; at the April 5, 2007 Cultural Development Board meeting, four passive parks were chosen for recommendation to the City Commission; on May 8, 2007 the Commission deferred decision on the Board's recommendation in order to explore the possibility of placement on the University of Miami campus, and on July 25, 2007 City staff met with representatives of the University of Miami to discuss the University's possible interest in having the sculptures on loan.  At this time the issue of placement is still undecided.

At its August 2, 2007 meeting the Cultural Development Board further discussed the Jean Ward sculptures placement and by motion duly passed recommends that the City Commission postpone action on the disposition of the Jean Ward sculptures until a revised recommendation is prepared by the Board in conjunction with the Public Service Department and re-presented to the City Commission.
