A Resolution of the City Commission authorizing the ratification of an emergency authorization of critical ceiling repairs to the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center’s Theater, 405 University Drive, pursuant to Section 2-690 Emergency Procurement, in the amount of $25,387.
Title
On April 29, 2023, a portion of the theater’s ceiling failed, and emergency repairs were necessary. For safety and to avoid disruption of the May 5, 2023 scheduled program, Gavarrete Inc., performed the repairs as they were immediately available.
These repairs included the reinstallation of the entire theatre ceiling system, ensuring all support grids were properly installed and light fixtures had safety lines. Additionally, the entire Youth Center facility’s acoustical ceilings were inspected, which determined to be in good condition.
Under Section 2-690 of the Procurement Code, entitled “Emergency Procurement,” where the City Manager authorizes the emergency procurements of supplies, services, or construction when there exists an immediate threat to public health, welfare, or safety or to prevent or minimize serious disruption of government services.
