On January 31, 2026, while on Limbo week in her first week in patrol, Officer Vega made an arrest of the offender, reference a simple battery from 7-Eleven (3960 SW 8th St) while be trained by Officer J. Trujillo.
On February 16, 2026, a theft of packages was reported from 1 Alhambra Cir (26-001093). Video surveillance revealed the offender entered the lobby of the apartment building and stole multiple packages belonging to several victims by placing them in her backpack and then exiting the lobby with the stolen packages. A resident was able to identify the offender, which was later confirmed by Officers Vega and Officer Truillo from their previous arrest.
On February 20, 2026, Detected K. Taha issued a BOLO for the offender with a probable cause to arrest (BOLO 26-047). Officer Trujillo advised Officer Vega spent a lot of her downtime between calls for service diligently canvassing the area where the offender frequents, which included SW 8th St to no avail.
Then on February 26, 2026, at approximately 1445 hours, Officer Vega was off duty, traveling westbound on SW 8th St and SW 44th Ave when she immediately identified the offender from the BOLO sitting at a bus stop on the northside of the 4400 block of SW 8th St. She immediately notified Det. Taha and advised him of what she had. She then notified an on-duty patrol unit and maintained a visual from a safe distance until officers arrived. The subject was later identified and arrested.
Officer Alexandra Vega is a new enthusiastic officer who had the right intuition when she located a subject who was wanted in a BOLO and took appropriate action by notifying the lead detective and kept an eye on the subject until she was taken into custody.
