[OLD BUSINESS:
a. 2022 ART BASEL - ARTIST RECOMMENDATIONS
Prior to the meeting, Board members were advised that the Board’s previously recommended artists for 2022 Art Basel/Miami Art Week are unavailable. Staff reported that the Arts Advisory Panel discussed a revised list of artists who had been contacted and confirmed their availability to produce work within the available timeline for Art Basel. The Board was advised of the Arts Advisory Panel’s overwhelming recommendation to invite Janine Antoni as the City’s 2022 Art Basel artist, with George Sánchez-Calderón as an alternate.

Mr. Rodriguez made a motion recommending Janine Antoni and George Sánchez-Calderón to submit proposals for consideration as the City’s 2022 Art Basel artist. Mr. Martinez seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:
a. JEAN WARD SCULPTURE COLLECTION - PRESENTATION
Prior to the meeting, Board members were provided with materials related to the City’s Jean Ward sculpture collection.

Mr. Rodriguez made a motion recommending restoration and replacement of the Jean Ward sculptures at Ingraham Park. Mr. Pantin seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

CULTURAL GRANT UPDATES / REVIEW OF 2022-2023 PROCESS:
a. CULTURAL GRANT REVIEW & SCORING PROCESS - DISCUSSION
The Board deferred discussion regarding the overall process.

b. CULTURAL GRANTEE UPDATES
Dr. Roth asked Board members to report on cultural events they’ve attended. Dr. Roth said she attended the Mainly Mozart concert at the Sanctuary of the Arts and said it was great. She also attended the first concert of the Community Arts Program at the Congregational Church and will be attending future performances.
