The minutes from the September meeting were circulated for approval. Motion: Katherine deBlij motioned to approve the September meeting minutes. Richard Chimelis seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Ayanes Apolinar provided an update on a project that they are working with the City Manager's Office to produce additional revenues for the City, looking to sell advertisement on the website. IT is currently working on policies and pricing guidelines, as well as a sample template. Once developed, he will bring this information to the Communications Committee for input.
Higgins Fallon distributed an e-mail address for a Pittsfield, MA
website that was provided by Development Department for comments regarding its arts/culture page. He reported that he liked the content aspects of the Pittsfield page, not so much the design. Higgins Fallon proposed to invite a member of this board to the next Communications Committee meeting to discuss this issue and set formal guidelines about what is expected of each department. Committee members agreed.
Higgins Fallon distributed an updated version of the Strategic Communications Plan which has been changed to reflect the current funding.
Higgins Fallon requested input about the online design for the quarterly newsletter. Pantin suggested increasing the publicity announcing the transition from paper to electronic news, to let people know constantly that City information is available online.
Belkys Perez reported that the next issue of Golden Gables is coming out November 1. She is profiling a breast cancer story, the new senior center programming, shingles in seniors, protecting your investment, and a profile with Norma Lenberg for implementing the first senior center in Miami Dade County. Perez also reported that they are working on the Coral Gables Now television show to be aired in November.
