Congratulations to Officer Anibal Guerrero, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Officer of the Month Award,” for the month of July 2026

On July 9, 2026, at approximately 1811 hours, Officer Anibal Guerrero was on patrol at the intersection of Ponce de Leon Blvd and Miracle Mile, when he observed a silver Nissan Murano make a right turn on red at a posted no right turn on red. Upon conducting a traffic stop, the driver informed Officer Guerrero that he had never been issued a license in the state of Florida. Instead, the driver provided multiple false social security numbers and a name that was fictitious. Additional investigation revealed that the vehicle’s license plate was a dealer tag assigned to another vehicle. Officer Guerrero placed the driver under arrest.
After having the vehicle towed, Officer Guerrero determined it necessary to transport the Offender to the Miami Dade Sheriff’s Office’s Warrants Bureau for identification. Fingerprinting of the Offender revealed his true identity and three (3) active fugitive warrants for felonies out of Alachua County, Florida:
1) Public Order Crimes
a. Using a two-way communications device to facilitate commission of a felony,
b. Racketeering violation
c. Criminal attempt to solicit or conspire level 1 or 2 with a bond set at $200,000 plus a mandatory Nebbia Hearing to verify the lawful source of the funds used for bond.
2) Felony Violation of Probation reference cocaine trafficking; No Bond
3) Felony Violation of Probation reference
a. Marijuana possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver a schedule | controlled substance; No Bond
b. Cocaine possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver a schedule 2 controlled substance; No Bond.
The Offender had been absconding himself with a false identity since January 2012 to avoid these felony warrants. In fact, even his friends, wife, and child knew him only by his alias.
