Title

A Resolution of the City of Coral Gables, Florida, requesting the transfer of ownership of Solano Prado Park from Miami-Dade County to the City of Coral Gables and providing for an effective date.

(Sponsored by Vice Mayor Lago)

Body

Solano Prado Park is a triangular-shaped open space located at the intersection of Solano Prado and Marquesa Drive. It was created and dedicated pursuant to the plat entitled Old Cutler Bay Section 4, as recorded in Plat Book 82, at Page 34, of the Public Records of Miami-Dade County, Florida. On April 25, 1967, the City accepted the Old Cutler Bay Section 4 plat pursuant to Ordinance No. 1597 attached as Exhibit A to this ordinance. Notwithstanding that at the time of the recording of the aforementioned plat the property was within the incorporated area of the City of Coral Gables, Miami-Dade County (County) also accepted the plat on May 16, 1967 pursuant to Resolution R-589-67 attached as Exhibit B to this Resolution.

The City and the County have always treated ownership of Solano Prado Park as owned by the County although the historical record may indicate otherwise. The Property Appraiser’s records also list the County as the owner of Solano Prado Park.

The City desires to own Solano Prado Park, improve it and maintain it as a neighborhood park in perpetuity and finds that the transfer of the park to the City will be in the best interest of the residents of Old Cutler Bay Section 4 plat and the City at large.
