Body
Pursuant to City Code Section 54.187, Solid Waste Collection Fees, the City of Coral Gables charges and collects fees for garbage and trash collection by the City of Coral Gables. The City Council has directed that any residential properties with delinquent Solid Waste Collection Fees in excess of $850 that remain unpaid should be collected pursuant to the Uniform Method of Collection provided in Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes.

The City previously adopted a Resolution of Intent (Resolution No. 2014-275) to use the Uniform Method of Collection for solid waste collection and disposal services, facilities, and programs. Additionally, the City adopted a Master Service Assessment Ordinance (Ordinance No. 2015-09), which outlines the procedures for the annual implementation of service assessments and their collection pursuant to the Uniform Method of Collection.

Pursuant to the Master Service Assessment Ordinance, the first step for the imposition of the solid waste assessments is the adoption of an Initial Assessment Resolution. The Initial Assessment Resolution for Solid Waste provides certain findings and definitions, including a definition of Residential Property that includes only those with the delinquent Solid Waste Collection Fees in excess of $850 that remain unpaid.
