Title
A Resolution of the City Commission accepting the Recommendation of the Chief Procurement Officer authorizing a Piggyback Contract in accordance with Section 2-978, Use Of Other Governmental Unit Contracts ("piggyback"), with DODEC, Inc., from the City of Miami Gardens Professional Contractor’s Contract, pursuant to unit pricing to provide construction and maintenance repair services for timely repairs and improvements to City facilities for a period running until July 31, 2017, under a job order contract.
Body
The City has a need to hire a General Contractor to provide timely repairs and improvements to City facilities that can be expedited under a Piggyback Contract that has been previously solicited by City of Miami Gardens. The City of Miami Gardens Professional Contractors’ Contract has a General Contractor that can be used for maintenance, repair and construction projects by the City of Coral Gables. The City had previously contracted with the firm, DODEC, Inc., through the Miami Gardens Piggyback, who performed timely repairs and improvements to Parking Garages 1 and 4, and the Public Safety Building, That contract has expired and we propose to replace it with a new contract that would authorize additional maintenance, repair projects along with construction projects as needed.

The new contract with DODEC, Inc., that would be authorized under this Resolution would operate as a job order contract to allow for various repairs and construction projects as needed until July 31, 2017, that have been approved under the City’s Annual Operating Budget. This contract will operate similarly to the Citywide Construction of Street Improvement s Contract with Metro Express, in which work orders are issued as needed by the Public Works Department based on an approved price list established by the Miami Gardens solicitation.
