Congratulations to Detective Brad Baena, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “2015 Officer of the Year Award.”

Throughout 2015, Detective Brad Baena has been nominated for, and received, several awards for his outstanding work. He was awarded Detective of the First and Third Quarters due to his thorough investigative skills and his attention to detail. His investigations resulted in taking down an organized retail theft ring, identifying and arresting residential burglars who were committing crimes in Coral Gables and throughout the county, and working with federal, state and local partners to capture an art thief and recover over $350,000 in stolen artwork. Detective Baena also received a Unit Certificate Award where he demonstrated flawless observation skills and quick thinking in assisting the agency’s Strategic Initiative Team. Finally, as a result of his great work noted above, he was nominated by the Department for several prestigious LEO Awards. Detective Baena has demonstrated throughout the year that he is well deserving of such distinction.
